Prayagraj: Prayagraj police, alert about the protest by Congress workers from all 12 districts of Prayagraj zone on the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi on Thursday, showed strictness and tightened the noose around Congress leaders from Wednesday midnight. Dozens of city leaders were put under house arrest in a major action based on the local intelligence department. Police force was deployed at the houses of some leaders, some were taken to the concerned police station and after interrogation, were released on the assurance that they would not leave the house. The prominent leaders who were put under house arrest include city Congress president Fuzail Hashmi, former spokesperson of the State Congress Committee Kishore Varshney, coordinator Harkesh Tripathi, former city president Nafees Anwar, Manas Shukla, Parvez Siddiqui, Arshad Ali and many other leaders. At the residence of city president Hashmi, the force of Puramufti and Dhoomanganj was deployed. Angry at the police action, Hashmi alleged that the dictatorial government is suppressing voices in a democracy. Former spokesperson Kishor Varshney says that the protest by BJP workers on Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Raebareli on Wednesday is nothing but panic. It is the panic of the nationwide Vote Chor Gaddi Chhor campaign that will be gained by Rahul Gandhi exposing the rigging on the basis of evidence of the Election Commission and BJP’s nexus with the Prime Minister who was elected by vote theft and his government. BJP members hurt by the insult of PM Modi’s mother in Bihar were asked that when Rahul Gandhi, any Congress or RJD leader did not insult her, then demanding resignation from Rahul Gandhi or protesting against him is clear that it is to suppress the truth of the vote theft campaign.
