Prayagraj/Varanasi: It’s considered nearly impossible for ordinary citizens to recover a lost mobile phone. However, the Cholapur police station in the Varanasi Commissionerate has changed this perception. Under the able guidance of the Additional Commissioner of Police, Varanasi, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Varuna Zone, and the supervision of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sarnath, the police, with the skillful guidance of Inspector-in-Charge Yogendra Prasad, and the excellent efforts of his technically savvy constables, recovered 12 lost mobile phones, estimated to be worth approximately ₹250,000. The mobile phones were returned to their rightful owners. This commendable feat was accomplished under the supervision of the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police and Assistant Commissioner of Police. Inspector-in-Charge Yogendra Prasad led the operation and effectively guided the team. The credit for this success goes primarily to Constable Vikas Kumar, who successfully traced these mobile phones using the Department of Telecommunications’ online service and the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system. By accomplishing this technically complex task, the police have proven that smartphone theft or loss can no longer be taken lightly. All the 12 recovered mobile phones were handed over to their owners as per the rules on 09/10/2025. On the return of the mobiles, the owners not only praised the work of Constable Vikas Kumar but also appreciated the leadership of the very hardworking and honest Inspector in-charge Yogendra Prasad Sonkar. This action further strengthens the public’s trust in the police. That the Commissionerate Varanasi Police is ready to protect the personal property of the citizens along with maintaining law and order. Names of the mobile owners (1) Arjun Kumar Gupta, Raj Kumar Jaiswar, Sunil Kumar, Ramjanm Yadav, Raghuvend Pratap Singh, Mangru, Mustaq Ansari, Mohammad Cream, Ankit Singh, Rajan Thakur, Rakesh Kumar, Rohit Kumar are the actual owners of the mobiles.
