Prayagraj: The “Ek Kadam Gandhi Ke Saath” (One Step with Gandhi) march, which began from Rajghat in Varanasi to Rajghat in Delhi with the aim of spreading Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas and values to the masses, entered Prayagraj. This march carries the message of goodwill, the Constitution, and the protection of democracy. The convoy of padyatris, which started from Varanasi on Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, left for the city this morning after halting at the Sardar Patel Seva Sansthan in Alopi Bagh on Wednesday evening.
Gandhi’s thoughts echoed through the city through the historic route. Today the Padyatra continued its journey through many historical and important places of Prayagraj, where the local people welcomed them warmly and showed their participation in the campaign.
Today’s leg of the march began at Alopi Bagh, after which the marchers reached Chowk, the heart of the city. A large crowd gathered near the Neem tree at Chowk, where Gandhian activists called on people to reaffirm their commitment to democracy and the Constitution. From Chowk, the caravan moved ahead and passed through Khuldabad station area, where a large number of students and youth joined the journey.
Thereafter, the walk continued parallel to the historic walls of Khusro Bagh, giving the entire route an inspiring look. At the end of the day, the marchers reinforced their message by passing in front of the Allahabad High Court. The presence of the High Court nearby emphasized the march’s primary objective: to defend the Constitution and justice.
The aim of the activists and citizens participating in this march is not only to keep Mahatma Gandhi’s memory alive, but also to create widespread public awareness for the protection of democracy and the Indian Constitution. This 1,000-kilometer march will conclude in Delhi on November 26 (Constitution Day).
