Theatre training for budding artists
Prayagraj: Vinod Rastogi Smriti Sansthan, Prayagraj, is organizing “ACT IT OUT – a 7-day theater workshop” starting today at the Maharashtra Public Service Board, Alopibagh. The workshop, held daily at 10 a.m., will cover basic theater techniques, including physical exercises, pronunciation, script reading, rasa-bhaav (emotional expressions), and improvisation.
According to information provided by the institute’s president, Abhilash Narayan, the workshop is being conducted under the supervision of Ajay Mukherjee and directed by senior theatre personality and research scholar, Mr. Arun Srivastava (University of Rajasthan). Arun Srivastava is an alumnus of the Mandi School of Drama and Pondicherry University.
The first day’s workshop introduced participants to the basic concepts of theatre. Physical exercises, along with nuances of vision, imagination, and improvisation, were also discussed. The senior instructor illustrated how an artist can achieve powerful expression on stage by balancing their body, mind, and imagination. Participants enthusiastically participated in the activities and experienced the practical aspects of stage acting up close.
This seven-day workshop will feature various group activities and short theatrical performances to hone participants’ creativity and acting skills. Certificates will be awarded to all participants on the final day. The institute’s secretary stated that the institute is committed to strengthening local theatre and giving new artists recognition on stage.
