Prayagraj: Prateek Kumar, Technical Officer SHUATS shared that as per the warning issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, Lucknow Centre, heavy rainfall, thunder, lightning and strong winds with speed of 30 to 40 km/hr are likely in Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Chandauli, Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia, Deoria, Sultanpur and adjoining districts between October 30 to 31. 2025.

Farmers have been advised to store harvested crops in a safe place, maintain proper drainage in their fields, and refrain from spraying pesticides, fungicides, or fertilizers during the rainy season. Waterlogging prevention measures are particularly important for sugarcane, rice, pigeon pea, mustard, chickpea, peas, and vegetables. The general public has also been appealed to avoid staying in open spaces, under trees or temporary structures, and to immediately take shelter in a safe place in case of lightning.
