Prayagraj: Under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager/Prayagraj, Shri Rajneesh Agrawal, Prayagraj Division is running a “World Environment Day” campaign on the theme of ‘Climate Change’ from May 15, 2026 to June 5, 2026. During this campaign, campaigns are being run towards the use of environmentally friendly products, tree plantation, water conservation, cleanliness and the creation of plastic-free railway premises.
In this sequence, today, May 29, 2026, Additional Divisional Railway Manager/General, Mr. Deepak Kumar, planted a tree at the Prayagraj Divisional Office as part of the “One Tree for Mother” campaign. Senior Model Personnel Officer, Mr. Vaibhav Kumar Gupta, and other officers and employees were present on the occasion. The objective of this program is to promote environmental protection and a green environment.
As part of Indian Railways’ campaign to mark World Environment Day 2026, extensive environmental protection and public awareness campaigns are ongoing in Prayagraj Division from May 15th to June 5th, 2026. Under these campaigns, various activities are being organized at railway stations, colonies, and office premises to promote environmental protection, cleanliness, plastic elimination, water and energy conservation, and sustainable lifestyles. Under the themes of “Mission Life” and “World Environment Day 2026,” awareness campaigns are being conducted through posters, banners, and digital messages to promote climate change, the ill effects of single-use plastic, and an environmentally friendly lifestyle. Passengers and employees are being encouraged to use reusable bottles, bags, and containers, and to adopt digital ticketing and paperless travel.
Under the World Environment Campaign, special cleanliness drives are being conducted at railway stations and surrounding areas, along with raising awareness about waste segregation and proper disposal. In collaboration with IRCTC and other relevant agencies, the use of biodegradable and non-plastic materials is being encouraged. Review of plastic bottle crushing machines on railway premises, inspection of water refilling stations, and encouragement to passengers to carry and refill their own water bottles are being carried out. Additionally, vendors and service providers at railway stations are being sensitized to ensure compliance with the ban on single-use plastic.
Special efforts are underway to maintain a green and clean environment at railway stations, colonies, and parks, including tree plantation drives under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative at various stations across the Prayagraj Division. Under the “One Station One Product” scheme, cloth and jute bags and eco-friendly products are being promoted. Additionally, awareness campaigns are being run on water conservation, rainwater harvesting, water recycling, energy conservation, use of LEDs, and switching off unnecessary electrical appliances.
