Prayagraj: Arif Iqbal, Advocate High Court, General Secretary DRT Bar Association is leading ongoing campaign demanding the passage of the Advocates’ Protection Act gained momentum on Tuesday. Lawyers under leadership of Arif Iqbal protested the government’s indifference to the bill. Advocates held a public meeting and protest, demanding accountability from the government on the issue of advocates’ protection. Arif Iqbal stated that the current central and state governments are simply bent on ignoring the interests of lawyers. He warned that if the government continues to ignore the safety and security of lawyers, the lawyers’ struggle in the state will escalate into a revolution. He justified the demand for the Advocates’ Protection Act and promised support in the struggle.  

Arif Iqbal, Advocate High Court, General Secretary DRT Bar Association, initially entered politics by running in the Allahabad University student union elections. After studying law, he has always been a part of the joys and sorrows of lawyers.

“If there has ever been an injustice against attorneys, I am always eager to lead them in any sort of protest for their welfare and justice, whether it be a hunger strike or any other type of protest. Arif Iqbal has ties to the Board of Revenue, the CBI Court, SIDBI, GIC Housing Finance, the Bank of India, and Aryavarta Bank. He has held state-level roles in the AIMIM and the LJP before running for and losing assembly and parliamentary elections. He has constituted the Rashtriya Samajik Nyay Morcha, where he serves as president.
