Prayagraj: Jagat Taran Girls’ Degree College, Prayagraj, organized its Annual Function “Vasantika” on Monday, at 3:30 p.m. at Rabindralaya Auditorium in a vibrant and dignified atmosphere. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp and Manglacharan, marking an auspicious beginning. This was followed by the welcome address delivered by Prof. Ashim Kumar Mukherjee, Chairperson, Governing Body, who extended his greetings to the distinguished guests and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, cultural enrichment, and the holistic development of students.
Principal Prof. Ashima Ghosh then presented the Annual Report, highlighting the academic achievements, cultural accomplishments, and various initiatives undertaken by the institution during the year.
A major highlight of the occasion was the formal release of the Commemorative Special Cover along with a Special Cancellation issued in the name of JTGDC at 11:00 a.m. at the George Town Post Office, Prayagraj. This special philatelic tribute, released on the occasion of “Vasantika,” marked the completion of the glorious 50 years of the College and commemorated its distinguished legacy and remarkable achievements.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Neelam Saran Gaur, Sahitya Academy Awardee and Professor, Department of English, University of Allahabad, emphasized that education must go beyond textbooks and foster imagination, empathy, and responsibility toward society. She observed that young women possess immense potential to become agents of meaningful social transformation. The Guest of Honour, Prof. Anita Gopesh, senior litterateur and Former Head, Department of Zoology, University of Allahabad, inspired students to strive for excellence through discipline, perseverance, and self-belief. The cultural segment of the programme featured a group folk song and a Hindi play titled “Panchayat,” both of which received enthusiastic appreciation from the audience. Prizes were distributed to students for their outstanding academic and cultural achievements.
