Prayagraj: Sampat Pal, a symbol of women’s empowerment and international commander of the Gulabi Gang, arrived in Prayagraj. She met senior advocate M.K. Rajpal at the Allahabad High Court (Gate No. 4). During this, serious concern was expressed over the increasing incidents of suicide in the city. Recent incidents have shaken the society and made the need for awareness even more important. Aishwaryam Literary, Cultural and Social Organization has been continuously running an awareness campaign for suicide prevention since the year 2023, in which judges, senior advocates, professors and social workers actively participate.
According to NCRB report (2022): Total 1,70,924 suicides in India, of which 13,044 were students. Sampat Pal, while appreciating all the efforts, appealed to the society – “Women empowerment and mental health awareness have to be strengthened together.”
Soon a large scale awareness program will be organized in Prayagraj.
