Prayagraj: The District Chess Selection Competition 2026, organized by the District Chess Association, Prayagraj, concluded with great fanfare on Sunday at Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Rajrooppur. Nearly 100 boys and girls, ranging in age from under-7 to under-19, showcased their talents. After a tough competition, 28 players were selected for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh State-Level Chess Competition.
The selected players will represent Prayagraj district in the Uttar Pradesh Chess Competition, held at Delhi Public School in Sitapur district from April 22nd. At the closing and prize distribution ceremony, chief guest Vijay Upadhyay, principal of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir, honored the winners with shields, medals, and certificates. In his address, he said, “Children from the age of 7 to 19 have brought glory to Prayagraj with their talent. I am proud that 28 children from the district have been selected for the state level.” Social worker Avichal Dwivedi, speaking at the event, said that Prayagraj is now also taking pride in the sports world from the western region. It is a result of the able leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his policy of promoting sports that the western region is also setting new standards.
