Prayagraj: The City Congress Committee members paid tribute to the first Prime Minister of India and Bharat Ratna Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on his 62nd death anniversary. In the morning, party members visited Nehru’s ancestral home Anand Bhawan and remembered their beloved leader by offering floral tributes to his portrait.
Addressing the Shridhnjali Sabha held under the chairmanship of City President Fuzail Hashmi, MP, Ujjwal Raman Singh said that Pt. Nehru, the architect of modern India, laid the foundation of the nation’s infrastructure during his glorious 17-year tenure. He added that Nehru was not only a symbol of world peace and the pioneer of the Non-Aligned Movement, but also the builder of a secular India.
Hashmi said that Nehru had provided economic strength to the country. Congress workers also took a pledge to follow the ideals of Nehru. Later, Congress leaders paid floral tribute at his life-size statue located at Balson Chauraha and remembered his contribution to nation-building.
