PRAYAGRAJ: A National Lok Adalat was successfully organised at the Allahabad High Court on Saturday under the guidance and chairmanship of Chief Justice Arun Bhansali, Chief Patron of the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority, and Justice Arindam Sinha, Executive Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh State Legal Services Authority and Chairman of the High Court Legal Services Committee.

Four Lok Adalat benches were constituted at the Allahabad High Court in accordance with the directions of the Chief Justice. The benches, comprising Justices Vivek Saran, Siddharth Nandan, Padam Narayan Mishra and Achal Sachdev, disposed of a total of 265 appeals and First Appeals from Orders (FAFOs) related to motor accident claims through mutual settlement and compromise.

Through the settlements, compensation amounting to Rs 10,18,02,924 was secured for the parties involved. The disposal of the cases through compromise provided relief to litigants and helped bring long-pending motor accident matters to an end.

Advocates Sumit Daga, Ajay Shankar, Anshul Kumar Singhal and Prakhar Tandon extended assistance in the effective functioning of the four Lok Adalat benches. Judicial officers of the High Court, including Dr Anil Kumar Singh, Gyan Prakash Tiwari, Rajnesh Kumar and Nishant Singla, also contributed to the proceedings.

Officials and staff members of the High Court Legal Services Committee, including Sunil Kumar Vishwakarma, Pawan Kumar, Shashank Sharma, Amit Kumar Singh, Anurag Verma, Nidhi Mishra and Arvind Kumar, assisted in the successful conduct of the Lok Adalat.

Priyanshu Shukla, an English translator working with the High Court Legal Services Committee, also encouraged the parties appearing before the Lok Adalat to resolve their disputes through mutual compromise and settlement.

The National Lok Adalat was aimed at providing speedy and amicable resolution of eligible cases while reducing the burden of prolonged litigation. The successful disposal of 265 motor accident matters through settlement was seen as an important step towards providing timely relief to the litigants.

High Court Registrar General Manjeet Singh Sheoran and Secretary of the High Court Legal Services Committee Kirti Kunal expressed their gratitude to all judicial officers, advocates, officials and employees who contributed to the successful organisation of the National Lok Adalat.
