Prayagraj: Bharat Ratna Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandonji’s 143rd birth anniversary celebration was organized at Rajarshi Tandon Mahila Mahavidyalaya (RTMM) (constituent Allahabad University) Malviya Nagar campus. The chief guest of the celebration was Dr. Shashi Tandon ji, granddaughter-in-law of Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon and President of the college executive body. The program started with lighting of lamps and garlanding and paying tribute to Rajarshi ji’s photograph. The college students gave a mesmerizing performance of Saraswati Vandana and Kajri Geet under the guidance of Professor Namita Yadav. BA second year student Swati presented a beautiful dance on Shiv Tandava in the month of Sawan. BA second year student Eram Fatima paid tribute to Rajarshi Tandon ji by composing a poem on him and MA student Kumari Tripti Mishra highlighted the various qualities of Rajarshi ji’s personality. The chief guest of the ceremony Dr. Shashi Tandon ji said in her speech that Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon ji was a great man. He made a significant contribution in the field of politics, social and education. He laid special emphasis on women education. His personality was based on four pillars – truth, loyalty, sacrifice and penance. He dedicated his life to national service and social service. Principal Professor Ranjana Tripathi welcomed and thanked the chief guest and said that Dr. Shashi Tandon ji got the company of Rajarshi Purushottam Das Tandon ji. She remained under his shadow for years, so the influence of Rajarshi ji’s qualities and values also got included in her personality. In the said ceremony, the college’s Professor Neelima Singh, Professor Namita Yadav, Dr. Anamika Tiwari, Dr. Aditi, Dr. Manoj, Dr. Anil Kumar, Dr. Ashwani Rai, Dr. Shaminaz, Dr. Yashasvi Pandey, Dr. Abhishek Tiwari and Mr. Naveen Pathak along with non-teaching staff, researchers and a large number of girl students were present.
