Prayagraj: Workers of the City Congress Committee paid heartfelt tributes to former Congress General Secretary and Member of Parliament Sanjay Gandhi on his 46th death anniversary. Addressing a programme organized in the afternoon at the party office in Chowk under the chairmanship of City Congress President Fuzail Hashmi, speakers described him as a dedicated son of the motherland and a true well-wisher of the poor.
They said that his Five-Point Programme, which focused on controlling population growth through family planning; promoting large-scale tree plantation under environmental protection; eradicating illiteracy and expanding education; eliminating the dowry system by discouraging dowry transactions in marriages and removing social evils; and abolishing caste discrimination to establish social equality, has today become an important part of the programmes of both the Central and State Governments.
At the beginning of the programme, Congress workers offered floral tributes to the portrait of Sanjay Gandhi and pledged to follow the path shown by him.
