Prayagraj: Shiv Devi, a widow, wife of the late Ravindra Kumar, a resident of Deoria village in the Sarai Inayat police station area, is forced to wander from door to door with her two children for justice. The victim has leveled serious allegations against her brother-in-law, Vijay Kumar, and sister-in-law, Kiran Sharma, including assault, abuse, mental harassment, death threats, and attempts to seize her property. The victim alleges that on June 21, 2026, at around 8 a.m., while returning home from the farm, Vijay Kumar and Kiran Sharma stopped her on the road, assaulted her, and abused her. Upon hearing the noise, villagers arrived at the scene and intervened. It is alleged that while leaving, they also threatened to kill Shiv Devi and her children.
Shiv Devi says that after her husband’s death, she is single-handedly raising her two young children. Her father-in-law divided the family property years ago, but now, taking advantage of her vulnerable and widowed status, he is attempting to seize her share of the land and house. The victim alleges that despite filing a complaint at the Sarai Inayat police station, the station chief is not taking the necessary action and is not hearing her complaint. This leaves the woman and her children living in fear.
Praveen Gautam has also taken the initiative to secure justice for the victim and draw the attention of the relevant authorities to this serious matter. He says that complaints concerning the safety of a widow and her young children must be taken seriously. The victim has demanded that higher authorities immediately take cognizance of the matter and conduct an impartial investigation, take legal action against the accused if the allegations are found to be true, and ensure the safety of Shiv Devi and her children. She also demanded that any illegal occupation or forced interference with her property be prevented. The victim says that if timely action is not taken, there is a possibility of a serious, unpleasant incident in the future. Now it remains to be seen when higher officials will take cognizance of this matter and provide justice to the widow.
