To mark b’anniv of Shamsur Rahman Farooqui

Prayagraj: On the birth anniversary of late Shamsur Rahman, a famous critic of Urdu literature, an inter-school Baitbaazi competition was organized on 30/09/2024 at Kidwai Memorial Girls Inter College, Himmatganj Prayagraj, in which Kidwai Memorial Girls Inter College won the title of winner and Hamidia Girls Inter College won the title of runner-up. The program was presided over by Dr. Naseha Usmani, Principal of Hamidia Girls Degree College.

 Many colleges of the city participated in the ‘Baitabaazi Competition’ organized at Kidwai Memorial Girls Inter College, which included Hamidia Girls Inter College, Sherwani Girls Inter College, Tara Rashid Inter College, Alhamra Farooqui Girls Inter College, Kidwai Memorial Girls Inter College etc. The students recited verses of famous poets like Mir Taqi Mir, Ghalib, Allama Iqbal, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Firaq Gorakhpuri, Bahadur Shah Zafar with rhythm and tune, listening to which the school premises echoed with thunderous applause. The chief guest of the program, Dr. Naseha Usmani, while congratulating the college manager Dr. Baran Farooqui, said that seeing your hard work for the Urdu language, I am sure that soon the school will reach the pinnacle of heights.  Management committee member Dr Rana Farooqui in her speech paid tribute to Farooqui sahab and praised the role of the teachers while praising the students. Hamidia’s professor Dr Zarina Begum while praising the students stressed on the encouragement of art like Baitbaazi. College manager Dr Baran Farooqui welcomed the teams of all the schools and while sharing the experiences of preparation for Baitbaazi, gave money as prize money to the students for the encouragement of the winner, runner-up as well as all the teams. Along with the chief guest, all the other guests gave money as prize money to the students.In the end, college principal Anjum Afsan gave the vote of thanks. In the event, along with the teachers of participating schools, Principal of Alhamra Girls Inter College Shabana Begum, Vice Principal Krishna Khanna, GGIC spokesperson Sana etc were also present. The role of Nishat Anjum, Qudsia, Anjum Mirza, Rafiq Fatima, Shadma, Ekta Shukla, Shalini Maurya, Kiran Pathak, Milan Dutta, Zeenat Sultana, Soma Dey, Shagufta Inam Amrita, Zubaida, Saima, Uzma, Nazia etc was commendable for making the program successful.
