Various issues related to inclusion/exclusion of Other Backward Class castes, their upliftment and development discussed

Lucknow: The meeting of Uttar Pradesh Backward Classes State Commission was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Commission Chairman Rajesh Verma. Commission Vice Chairman Sohan Lal Shrimali, other members and Secretary Manoj Kumar Sagar were present in this important meeting. In the meeting, many important decisions were taken while discussing various issues related to inclusion/exclusion of Other Backward Class castes, their upliftment and development. First of all, a proposal for formation of “Kesh Kala Board” was presented in the meeting. This demand was made by Manoj Kataria, in which there was a need to develop the people associated with the hair art business of the state and preserve their skills. The Commission unanimously accepted this proposal and decided to send a recommendation to the government for the formation of “Hair Art Board”. Apart from this, a proposal was also made to form a “Gold Art Commission” for the preservation of the ancient gold and silver jewelery making art of the goldsmith society, which was presented by Shri Sanjeev Kumar. The Commission also approved this proposal and decided to send a recommendation to the government. Providing 27 percent reservation for Other Backward Classes in government construction works was also discussed in the meeting. Considering it extremely necessary, the Commission decided to send a recommendation to the government to implement this reservation system in all departments. With the aim of improving the standard of living of the elderly persons belonging to backward classes, the Commission recommended the construction of old age homes under the Central Sector Scheme, so that better facilities can be provided to the elderly persons.

In the meeting, there was discussion regarding inclusion of Khangar caste in the list of Other Backward Classes. The Commission said that a recommendation had already been sent on this subject. Now it was decided to send a reminder letter to the government regarding this recommendation. The proposal to increase the income limit of the creamy layer was also considered and it was decided to present it in the upcoming meeting. Regarding the amendment in the certificate of non-creamy layer, it was decided in the meeting that a proposal on this subject should be prepared and presented to the Honorable Chairman. While discussing in detail the proposal to include Gorkha community in the list of Other Backward Classes, the Commission decided that information would be obtained again from the districts. After this, a committee will be formed to conduct a detailed survey on this subject. The issue of ensuring compliance with the reservation system in the posting of police station chiefs was also discussed in the meeting. Considering this as very important for the representation of backward classes, the Commission decided to send a recommendation in this regard to the government.
