163rd Annual Sports & Athletic Meet of BHS & College: St. Andrew’s House won Athletic Cup
Prayagraj: St. Andrew’s House outperformed other Houses (St. Patrick’s, St. Peter’s, and St. George’s) and won the renowned Athletic Cup at the 163rd Annual Sports of Boys’ High School and College. The Chief Guest for this event was Major General Rajesh Bhat, General Officer Commanding of Purva UP and MP Sub Area. The Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke, and the Academic Supervisor, Mrs. C. B. Luke, greeted the Chief Guest and his wife warmly.
The annual sports began with a short prayer and a brief presentation by the Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke, who urged the students to fully participate in the field and track events in the genuine spirit of sportsmanship.
The Chief Guest complimented the outstanding march past, headed by Sports Captain Pragyan Yadav. On behalf of the participants, the Sports Captain took the oath and earnestly promised to maintain the spirit of real sportsmanship. The Chief Guest launched multicolored balloons with placards into the air, calling the Sports Meet open.
The Chief Guest delivered Annual School Magazine, The Banyan, to great acclaim and clapping. The journal presented each event in all of its beauty and splendor. It also incorporates the many infrastructure improvements undertaken at the institution.
In his brief remark, the Chief Guest, Maj. Gen. Bhat, stated that sports and games are part of the school curriculum and underlined their relevance in the overall development of an individual’s personality.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of discipline in order to succeed in any sector. He encouraged pupils to join the army and serve their country with dignity and integrity. Maj Gen Bhat commended the Principal, DA Luke, for hosting the great annual sports meet and thanked alumni of the 1999 batch of students who returned to their Alma Mater as a token of respect and nostalgia.
The children captivated the audience with their multifaceted abilities during the exercises and races. Some examples are ‘An Animal Rhapsody’ by Playway, Nursery, and Prep, ‘The Story of Snow White’ by classes I, II, and III, ‘Love, Peace, and Harmony’ by classes IV and V, ‘Hats, Hoops, and Hues’ by classes VI and VII, and ‘Space Jam’ by classes VIII through X.
It was a bright display of skill and collaboration, ranging from Playway to Class 12. The smallest competitors from Playway, Nursery, and Prep performed beautiful yet coordinated drills, while guys in grades 1–12 showcased amazing athleticism in several races. The event was filled with cheering as each group demonstrated their distinct abilities and sportsmanship. The flawless cooperation and lively energy demonstrated by students of all ages made an unforgettable impression, showcasing the entire growth promoted at BHS. Every child, regardless of age, contributed to the success of this unforgettable Sports Day.
The celebration concluded with a vote of gratitude from the Principal, Mr. D. A. Luke, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
