Govt stands with every victim in times of disaster: Minister

Prayagraj: Minister, Industrial Development, Export Promotion, NRI and Investment Promotion Department, Uttar Pradesh, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi ji reached Boys High School on Sunday and distributed flood relief kits to the flood affected people. On this occasion, in the presence of Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi ji, ration kits were distributed to 1500 flood affected people and demo cheques of Rs. 4 lakh each were given from the Natural Disaster Relief Fund to the families of 05 people who died due to drowning in ponds and other places. The ration kit contains essential items like flour-10 kg, rice-10 kg, tur dal-2 kg, gram-2 kg, roasted gram-2 kg, salt-1 kg, refined/mustard oil-1 liter, biscuits-10 packets, turmeric-200 grams, chilli-100 grams, vegetable masala-200 grams, sugar-1 kg, tarpaulin-1 piece, matchbox and candle-1 packet each, bathing soap-2 pieces, washing soap-2 pieces, sanitary pads-20 pieces, disposable bags-20 pieces, Dettol/Savlon-100 ml-1 piece, cotton cloth-1 meter, towel-1 piece, lye-2.5 kg, 18 liter bucket with lid-1 piece, potatoes-10 kg, mug-1 piece.

On this occasion, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, while giving detailed information to the Minister about the arrangements made for the people affected by the flood in the district, said that in the urban area of the district, a total of 54 localities in which a total of 42521 people were affected by the flood. Similarly, in rural areas, a total of 39500 people of 69 villages under 6 tehsils were affected by the flood. A total of 21 flood shelters were established in the city area, in which a total of 9470 persons from 2223 families stayed in flood relief shelters. Presently all the present people have gone to their homes. Similarly, 01 flood shelter was built in Tehsil Soraon, 01 flood shelter in Tehsil Bara and 02 flood shelters in Tehsil Meja, in which a total of 534 persons stayed during the flood period. In this way, a total of 25 flood relief shelters were built in the district, in which 149920 lunch packets and 299240 liters of water, 4686 ORS, 6831 chlorine etc. were distributed to the refugees. Earlier in the district, more than 7600 ration kits were distributed among the people affected by the flood and today in the presence of Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi ji, ration kits were distributed to 1500 flood affected people in Boys High School. In this way, ration kits have been distributed to a total of 9100 flood affected people so far. He said that the distribution of ration kits to the flood affected people will continue in future as well.

Similarly, 88 flood posts, 87 medical camps, 78 animal camps were set up to deal with floods in the district. 01 team of NDRF, 04 teams of SDRF, 01 team of water police, 03 teams of PAC 42BN and 21 divers and 3000 boats were deployed for relief and rescue work. 2447 people have been rescued by NDRF and 723 by SDRF.

A total of 78 animal camps were identified to save animals from the flood, where 1007 animals were treated, 6850 animals were vaccinated, 989 quintals of straw were distributed and 2980 animals were saved. Similarly, to deal with the flood, 3161 people were treated in 21 medical camps, 2787 ORS and 6705 chlorine were distributed. The District Magistrate said that in this hour of disaster, the civil defence, media, trade board, medical association, petrol pump association and other social and voluntary organisations helped the people affected by the flood.

While addressing the disaster relief kit distribution program, the Minister said that Chief Minister takes immediate action and decision to deal with any disaster and calamity. Prime Minister thinks about how 140 crore people of the country can be safe, how they can be organized and how they can earn their livelihood, if there is any kind of problem, then it should be resolved immediately. Minister said that Chief Minister saw that the flood situation in the state has started taking a terrible form, so he immediately formed a team of Ministers to deal with this problem. He said that I came to inspect the flood on 03 August, at that time the water level of flood water was rising very fast, at that time the people trapped in the flood, whose houses were flooded, were to be evacuated, they were to be taken to the flood relief camp and their stay, food, drinking water and other necessary arrangements were to be ensured in the flood relief camp. The Minister said that the entire team of the District Magistrate and the administration deserves congratulations; under whose leadership the district administration did a commendable job with full readiness and reached out to every person affected by the flood and provided help. The Minister said that it is the priority of the government to provide all possible help to the victims during the disaster. He said that even today ration kits are being distributed and distribution will continue as per the need in future as well. The Minister assured the people that the state government, governance and administration are with you during the disaster. He said that while on the one hand the central and state governments are trying to bring a smile on the face of the person standing at the last rung of the society by running many developmental and public welfare schemes for the common people, on the other hand, they are not behind in sharing the pain and suffering of the victims during any natural calamity. The administration will assess the damage to crops and houses affected by the flood and provide compensation. The Health Department has been instructed to ensure the availability of medicines and antivenom at PHC-CHC. Medicine distribution and spraying is also being done in the affected areas.

On this occasion, apart from BJP Metropolitan President Sanjay Gupta, representative of MLA of North and other public representatives, Additional District Magistrate Finance and Revenue Vinita Singh, Chief Revenue Officer Kunwar Pankaj, City Magistrate Vinod Kumar Singh, Sub-District Magistrate Sadar Abhishek Singh along with other officers, a large number of people were present.
