Prayagraj: The 120th birth anniversary of former Chief Minister of the state, freedom fighter and member of the Constituent Assembly Pandit Kamlapati Tripathi was celebrated by the city Congress Committee at the party office Jawahar Square under the chairmanship of city president Fuzail Hashmi. In the afternoon, party members paid tribute by garlanding the oil painting of the eminent leader of the country and former Railway Minister and expressed gratitude by remembering his services to the country. He was said to be a man of multi-faceted personality, a writer, journalist as well as a skilled politician. He was the only acting president of the Indian National Congress, he was also the Deputy Chief Minister before becoming the Chief Minister of the state. Congress members took a pledge to follow the path shown by him. Later in the monthly meeting of the party, apart from the formation of wards and blocks under the organization creation campaign, strengthening the organization was discussed. It was decided that the city president will visit two to four wards every day and meet the workers and officials. During this, BSP in-charge of City North Jitendra Sonkar resigned from Bahujan Samaj Party and joined Congress. It was also resolved that hard work should be done to bring Congress back to power in the state in 2027.
