Prayagraj: A musical concert organized in the memory of Pandit Shri Kant Mishra (Toon Maharaj) ji was organized in the auditorium of Arya Kanya Degree College, Mutthiganj, Prayagraj. This program was organized under the joint aegis of Tone To Dhrupad Trust and Sanskar Bharti University Unit. On this musical auspicious occasion, the first citizen of Prayagraj, Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani, and Head of Music Department of Allahabad University, Pandit Prem Kumar Malik ji were present as the chief guests. Along with this, as special guests, Manager of Kanya Degree College, Pankaj Jaiswal, renowned skin specialist of Prayagraj, Dr. Renu Bonal ji, General Secretary of Sanskar Bharti Varanasi Province, Mr. Manish Tiwari, General Secretary of Sanskar Bharti University, Prayagraj, along with many other dignitaries were present here. This musical concert was inaugurated by the chief guests by offering flowers and lighting lamps on the picture of Pandit ji. After this, the coordinator of this program, Associate Professor of Music Department of Allahabad University, Dr. Surendra Kumar gave a welcome address and gave information about the outline of the program. On this auspicious occasion, all the chief guests expressed their views on the contribution of Pandit Shrikant Mishraji in enriching the Pakhawaj genre of music. In this program, Dr. Surendra Kumar also expressed his musical views and proposal to the mayor that on the lines of Subah-e-Banaras organized at Assi Ghat in Banaras, classical music presentation should be organized every day at our Prayag Sangam coast so that the ancient musical tradition, reputation and artistry of our Prayagraj remains alive forever. The city mayor accepted the proposal with open arms and also expressed the possibility of naming it “Suryodaya-Prayag” or “Arunodaya-Prayag”. He also approved to finalize it by holding a big meeting with all the art connoisseurs of the city on this subject, which will be a big musical achievement for the city of Prayag. The first presentation of this program was Dhrupad Bandhu (Sanjeev-Manish) ji with his Dhrupad singing. He presented a composition in Sultaal in Raga Bhimapalasi Raga whose words were “Shambhu Har Har”, “Bhajan- Jhini-Jhini Chadariya” etc. He was accompanied on Pakhavaj by Pandit Shrikant Mishra ji’s able disciple Shri Aditya Deep and Pratiksha Mishra assisted on Tanpura. The second presentation was Carnatic singing by renowned Carnatic singer Vidushi Uma Kumar who had come from Switzerland. She presented four compositions, out of which the first was Shyama Shastri’s composition based on Raga Yaman Kalyani, the second was P. Subramaniam’s composition on Raga Dharmavati, the third was Purandar ji’s composition on Raga Revati in Kannada, all these compositions were written in Aditaal. He was accompanied on Mridang by Dr. Satyavar Prasad and on Violin by Pandit Sukhdev Mishra. Accompanied. The third presentation was of Khayal singing where Associate Professor of the Music Department of Allahabad University Dr. Surendra Kumar sang a big Khayal in Raag Marubihag “Shubh Din Aaj” followed by “Man Le Gayo Re Sawara” “Jagun Main Saari Raina” and “Aaj Re Badhawa Baaje” in Chota Khayal. After this he also gave a beautiful presentation of Thumri whose words were “Kaise Kate Din Rain Sajan Bin” etc. with which he charmed the entire audience. The program was superbly hosted by Assistant Professor of Music of Arya Kanya College Dr. Ranjana Tripathi. On this occasion Professor Ibha Sirothia, Dr. Chitra Chaurasia, BJP spokesperson Rajesh Kesarwani, Dr. Vinod Mishra, Siddharth Mishra etc. were also present in the auditorium.
