Prayagraj: The Northern Football Academy team won the bronze medal in the one-day state level football competition held in Sultanpur. According to the academy’s chief coach, Indranil Ghosh, in their first match (pre-quarterfinal) of the competition, played at the Pant District Stadium in Sultanpur, Northern Academy defeated Sports Stadium Pratapgarh by two goals. Rohit scored both goals. In the quarterfinal, Northern Academy defeated Awadh Mutineers Akhbarpur by one goal to advance to the semifinal. Kumar Ansh scored for the winning team on a pass from Alok Prajapati. In the semifinal match, Northern Academy won the bronze medal after losing to Aztec Football Club Sultanpur 4-5 in sudden death in a close contest. The score was 0-0 at full time. After this, the score remained tied at 2-2 in the tiebreaker. To decide the winner, the organizers had to resort to sudden death, in which Northern Academy lost 4-5. Harshit, Rohit, Kumar Ansh, and Nishant scored for Northern Academy.
