Benefits of drip and sprinkler explained
Prayagraj: Under the Prime Minister’s Agricultural Irrigation Scheme sub-component “Per Drop More Crop” scheme, a one-day training program for 100 farmers (in groups of 50 each) of Prayagraj district was organized on 8th and 9th October 2025 at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, SHUATS Prayagraj. 100 farmers from various development blocks of the district participated in this training. The training program was inaugurated by Dr. Mukesh P. Masih, Senior Scientist and Head of the Center. He elaborated on the objectives of the Prime Minister’s Agricultural Irrigation Scheme, “Water for every field,” and the concept of “More crops, less water.” During the training, scientist Dr. R.P. Singh provided information on drip and sprinkler irrigation systems, micro irrigation techniques, rainwater harvesting, measures to increase water use efficiency in crops, and subsidy schemes run by the Central and State governments.
Scientist Dr. G.P.M. Singh provided farmers with practical information on the use, maintenance, and benefits of drip and sprinkler systems at the field level. He also addressed their problems and encouraged them to adopt modern techniques to increase crop productivity. At the closing ceremony of the training, District Horticulture Officer, Prayagraj, Mr. Saurabh Srivastava, introduced the farmers present and said that farmers need to focus on modern farming and foster awareness in the field of agriculture, increase efficiency, cultivate scientifically, and adopt new agricultural techniques. He informed the farmers present that by effectively adopting drip and sprinkler irrigation systems in various crops under the “Per Drop More Crop” – Micro Irrigation Program, a subcomponent of the Government of India’s Prime Minister’s Agricultural Irrigation Scheme, 40 to 50% water savings, 35 to 40% production increase, and yield quality improvement can be achieved.
At the end of the training program, Dr. Subodh Yadav, scientist of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, took the beneficiary farmers on a tour of the drip plants installed in this center and also concluded the training with wishes for their bright future.
