Prayagraj: Dr. Kuldeep Tripathi, Senior Scientist, National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR), New Delhi, visited the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS), Prayagraj, to review the ongoing research trials under the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Potential Crops. During his visit, Dr. Tripathi interacted with the faculty members and researchers of the department and reviewed the performance of various genotypes under evaluation. He also discussed strategies for the promotion, popularization, and large-scale dissemination of Pillispera and Winged Bean among farming communities for enhancing crop diversification and nutritional security.
Dr. Tripathi delivered an expert lecture on the significance of plant genetic resources in India, emphasizing their vital role in sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, and long-term food and nutritional security. The session was graced by the presence of Dr. SD McCarty, Director Research; Dr. Vaidurya Pratap Sahi, Professor and Head, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding; Dr. Deepak Lal, Dean, Post Graduate Studies; Dr. Prashant Kumar Rai; Dr. Neha Thomas; Dr. Abhinav Dayal; and Dr. BM Bara. Researchers Sandeep Nalla, Parth Ramana, and Prateek Kumar also participated in the deliberations.
