AMA members protested attack on medicos by wearing black ribbons
Prayagraj: On November 22, 2025, Dr. R.P. Shukla, a senior physician at Nazareth Hospital and a senior member of the Allahabad Medical Association, was attacked by some anti-social elements in his chamber at Nazareth Hospital. This attack was condemned and despite outrage within the medical community, these criminals have not been arrested. It is to be noted that on 23.10.2025 at 10.45 am, a female patient named Pratima Shukla, wife of Deepak Shukla, 145 C/1, Chandpur Salori, Teliyarganj, Prayagraj was brought to my OPD. She told that she was suffering from stomach ache, nausea, vomiting and extreme weakness for the last 5 days. Her BP was 100/70, mmHg temperature 99.1, pulse 121, SpO2 0-93 percent. She was asked to be admitted to the ward and treatment was started as per the symptoms. At the time of admission to the ward, CBC, LFT, KFT, MP Widal, urine, TMH, ECG, RBS, X-ray chest and UMG enzyme test were taken. During the evening rounds, some test reports were received and medication was continued accordingly. The next day, other reports arrived, and a CECT enzyme test was ordered. Medication was continued based on the test reports and the patient’s condition. On October 25, 2025, the patient was diagnosed with loose motions and blood was found in the stools. Considering the patient’s condition was not improving and the test reports indicated the possibility of a serious illness, it was advised to refer the patient to a gastroenterologist for treatment. Since October 26, 2025, was a Sunday and a gastroenterologist was unavailable, the patient was advised to go to another hospital. On October 27, 2025, while being taken from Nazareth Hospital to another hospital, he suffered a shock and even cut his tongue. After proper treatment at Nazareth Hospital, she was allowed to be taken out, after which it was learnt that Pratima Shukla died in the early hours of 01.11.2025 at Medanta Hospital, Lucknow.
After that, the deceased’s husband, Deepak Shukla, is making defamatory posts on various media platforms, making baseless allegations against Dr. R.P. Shukla, who is senior member. It is even being said that this doctor will be punished not by God but by man. In the same sequence, on November 22, 2025, at 12:45 pm, Deepak Shukla, who claims to be a lawyer, along with his associates, forcibly entered room number 2 inside Nazareth Hospital and attacked the doctor. An attempt was made to kill him by strangulation. Along with this, the patients present there were also treated rudely and manhandled. The guards who came to rescue them were also attacked with deadly weapons and medical work was disrupted.
Allahabad Medical Association also requests Allahabad High Court Bar Association that if Deepak Shukla and his other colleagues are your members, then please cancel their membership as well, so that a good message goes out in the society in future and the administration ensures the immediate arrest of those responsible. The members of Allahabad Medical Association protested against this by wearing black ribbons on Tuesday.
