Prayagraj: Member, Allahabad Lok Sabha  Ujjwal Raman Singh, stated that the Congress party will foil any attempt by the central government to weaken the Constitution and to abolish MGNREGA, a scheme meant for farmers and the poor. He was addressing the monthly meeting and preparations for the proposed “Samvidhan evam kissan bachao Rally” scheduled to be held on March 22 in Bharatganj, Manda, organized by the City Congress Committee at the party office at Jawahar square, He said that MGNREGA was not merely a scheme but a right of the poor, ensuring accountability and transparency. He added that with changing policies under the present regime and the 60:40 financial contribution model between the central and state governments, problems are likely to increase rather than be resolved.

He appealed to Congress workers to wholeheartedly dedicate themselves to making the rally a success. The MP alleged that BJP governments at both the Centre and in the states have become authoritarian and dictatorial, working against public interest and focusing not on fundamental issues but on spreading hatred. e further stated that the rally in Prayagraj, which was a head quarter during India’s freedom struggle, would send a strong message across the country against the government. The meeting was presided over by City President Fuzail Hashmi and conducted by Harikesh Tripathi. Yamunapar President Ashok Patel, Kishore Varshney, Anoop Tripathi, Nayan Kushwaha, Parvez Siddiqui, Sushmita Yadav, Pradeep Dwivedi, Afroz Ahmad, Manas Shukla, Rakesh Srivastava, Ishtiaq Ahmad, Pratima Tripathi, Sartaj Mohammad, Kameshwar Sonkar, Ahmadullah, Sushil Tiwari, Shakeel Ahmad, Naz Khan, Jitendra Rai, Nasreen Bano, Vishal Sonkar, Mohammad Naseem, and many others.

At the end of the meeting, a two-minute silence was observed to mourn the demise of Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran.
