Prayagraj: Research scholar Mrs. Anju Kumari has been awarded PhD in May 2026 from Magadh University, Bodh Gaya, Bihar, under the guidance of Head of the Hindi Department, Prof. Vinay Kumar, for her research work on the research title – litterateur Dr. C.L. Sonkar: Creation and Dimensions in literary service works.
While serving in the administrative service of the Uttar Pradesh government, he has published books on literature and society, including: “Untouchability in India: A Historical Study,” “Untouchability in India,” “Folk Religious Poets and Society of Uttar Pradesh,” “Chaar Sau Pachisa of Poetic Sadhana of Uttar Pradesh,” and “Saints of South India.” India’s Social Communities: A Holistic Perspective, a two-volume book, is soon to be published.
Numerous scholars from India and abroad, including Supreme Court and High Court justices, have expressed their opinions on the books of writer and historian Dr. C.L. Sonkar. Numerous of his articles and research papers have been published in national and international journals.
Apart from Taiwan, among the important published research papers are Low Born-Hybrid Castes and Their Origin and Development in the Proceedings of the Indian History Congress and Caste of the Blight, in the Light of Sonkaras work reviewed in the newspaper The Hindu. Among the awards received are Samanvay Shri Samman, All India Bhasha Sahitya Sammelan, Bhopal, Ravikumar Banerjee Samman, Mahadevi Verma Chetna Shri Kamana Shri Samman, Allahabad, Amritlal Nagar Award, Excellent Hindi Service Award, Vishwa Hindi Jyoti, California, USA, International Hindi Conference Award, Vigyan Bhawan, Delhi, International Hindi Utkarsh Samman, Fiji Girmit Council, Hindi Teachers Association, Hindi Parishad, Fiji, Pannalal Gupta Manas Smritanjali Samman, Prayagraj and Father Kamil Bulke Samman, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh 2025.
Recently, one of his books, Saints of South India, has been published in 2026 by Lok Bharati Prakashan, Prayagraj. Originally from Bindki, Fatehpur, C.L. Sonkar, a talented, hardworking, and driven man from a humble family, received his education at Fatehpur University, Allahabad University, and Avadh University. He has served as a sub-district magistrate in various districts, including Prayagraj and Kaushambi. Currently, Mr. Sonkar serves as the Deputy Commissioner of the Jal Jeevan Mission, Kaushambi District, and the District President of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Kaushambi district.
