62 participants trained in emergency response, primary care and life-saving techniques including CPR
Prayagraj: Recognising the importance of timely first aid in saving lives during emergencies, the Bharat Scouts & Guides, North Central Railway, organised a five-day ‘First Aid Special Course’ at the Bharat Scouts & Guides Training Centre, Jhansi. The training focused on equipping participants with practical skills to respond effectively to accidents and medical emergencies, including assessment of injured persons, immediate first aid and CPR.
With the approval of Vineet Kumar Srivastava, Senior Deputy General Manager and State Chief Commissioner, North Central Railway, Prayagraj, the State Headquarters, Bharat Scouts & Guides, North Central Railway conducted the specialised training programme from September 9 to 13, 2026. A total of 62 participants from all three divisions of North Central Railway took part in the course. The programme was conducted by Sanjay Chaturvedi, ALT Leader, North Central Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides, Jhansi.
The participants were trained in the fundamentals of first aid and the role of a first responder during accidents and other emergency situations. The sessions covered the principles of first aid, qualities of an effective first aider, essential precautions while administering first aid and the 10 Golden Rules of First Aid.
The course also placed special emphasis on hands-on learning. From September 10 to 12, Dr. Abhinav Niranjan, Divisional Medical Officer, Jhansi, and Dr. Gaurav Srivastava, Senior Divisional Medical Officer, Jhansi, conducted practical training sessions. Participants were guided on how to assess the condition of an accident victim, determine the severity and nature of injuries and provide first aid in a systematic manner. Practical guidance was also provided on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), including when, why and how CPR should be administered in a critical situation.
During the programme, the Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Jhansi, visited the training centre and interacted with the participants to understand the effectiveness of the course as well as the facilities being provided at the centre. Participants appreciated the modern facilities and arrangements available at the training centre, including accommodation, newly constructed bathrooms and separate, well-organised arrangements for women participants. The Additional Divisional Railway Manager assured that efforts would continue to further improve the facilities in the future.
On the concluding day, September 13, 2026, certificates were presented to the participants following an interfaith prayer. Ravikant Sharma, State Organising Commissioner (Scout), and Manju Joshi, State Organising Commissioner (Guide) and State Training Commissioner (Guide), presented the course certificates to the participants.
The successful conduct of the programme was supported by Anil Sharma, ALT/Rover; Ankit Saxena, ALT/Rover; Dinesh Sharma, ALT/Scout; and Jyoti Kumari, ALT/Guide. Pradeep Pandey, District Organising Commissioner (Scout); Nirmal Singh Sandhu, District Training Commissioner (Scout); the Quartermaster; senior leaders of Jhansi District; and the service staff also made significant contributions towards ensuring smooth and effective arrangements for the training programme.
The five-day course concluded successfully with flag ceremony, the National Anthem and a farewell gathering, marking the completion of the specialised training aimed at strengthening the preparedness of Bharat Scouts & Guides personnel to provide prompt and effective assistance during emergencies.
