Prayagraj: According to technical officer Dr. Prateek Kumar, the district is expected to receive very little rainfall in the coming days, with maximum temperatures ranging from 34 to 36 degrees Celsius. The weather will generally be favorable for agricultural activities, but soil moisture may be low in elevated and well-drained fields. Particular attention is needed to address moisture shortages, especially during the reproductive stage in rice, and during the flowering and pod formation stages in pigeon pea, soybean, and pulse crops.

Warm and relatively dry weather can increase the incidence of pod borers, aphids, whiteflies, and other sucking insects. Farmers have been advised to irrigate as needed based on soil moisture, avoid excessive nitrogen use, and only implement pest and disease control measures when the weather is clear.

Crop-specific advisories include monitoring for khaira disease in rice, leaf roller in pigeon pea, Cercospora leaf spot in mung bean, and stem borer in maize. Attention is also advised for managing whiteflies in vegetables and fruit flies in guava. According to Prateek Kumar, technical officer of Prayagraj AFMU, farmers should give priority to regular monitoring of moisture in crops and timely pest-disease management keeping in view the weather conditions.
