Prayagraj: The Municipal Corporation House meeting was tumultuous on Tuesday. Councillors raised the issue of massive irregularities in the construction of roads under the CM Grid Scheme. Following the complaints, Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani passed a resolution to file FIRs against the negligent contractors. In the House, all the councillors exposed the big game of poor construction going on in their respective wards.

Drains blocked with cow dung in Kalyani Devi: Kalyani Devi councilor Neeraj Tandon said that the pipe laid near the temple is clogged with dung and mud, blocking drainage. The pipe was not laid according to standards.

The game of forgery in Beniganj: Beniganj councilor Digvijay Kushwaha stated that iron grills are being installed on the drains near Agrasen Inter College in Lukerganj, even though the drains are constantly overflowing. Even after the grills are installed, they are unable to be cleaned. He added that the road, built a year ago, is still covered in dust and has large potholes. Upon his request, instructions were given to blacklist the contractor.

Demand for a monitoring committee: Councillor Akash Sonkar demanded the formation of a monitoring committee in the CM Grid Scheme, which should include councillors, officers and executive engineers, so that the quality of work can be ensured. Councillors said that protests had previously taken place over waterlogging and encroachment, leading to bulldozer action on drains in several locations. But the contractors’ arbitrariness would no longer be tolerated.
