Prayagraj: To mark Hindi Month, a seminar on “Hindi in the Digital Age” was organized on Thursday at the Regional Centre of Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University, Prayagraj, under the patronage of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kumud Sharma. The chief guest of the program, Dr. Amit Malviya, Senior Public Relations Officer, North Central Railway, Prayagraj, stated that “Hindi in the Digital Age” is a highly relevant topic in the present times. The expansion of the Internet and digital media has provided new opportunities for the use and dissemination of Hindi. The Hindi language is being promoted globally through digital media. In the digital age, information sources, digitization of information dissemination, and language standardization are being developed. Hindi content is being used on the Internet in India. Hindi is becoming popular worldwide.
He further stated that Hindi is becoming increasingly relevant in this era. In the digital age, content created in regional languages is rapidly being translated into Hindi. The Ministry of Education has played a key role in the adoption and development of Unicode to promote Hindi and other Indian languages in the digital world. It is helping digital platforms create content in Hindi. Hindi has become the most powerful medium of communication in the digital age.
Professor Akhilesh Kumar Dubey, Academic Director of the Regional Centre, Prayagraj, stated that digital has given Hindi global recognition. Hindi’s progress is akin to becoming a superpower. Today, Hindi is widely used on websites, social media platforms, digital journalism, blogs, podcasts, online education, and various technological mediums. To take Hindi to the global stage, there is a need to upload more and more quality content. He also recited a poem on the digital world. Delivering the welcome address at the symposium, Dr. Supriya Pathak, Associate Professor of Women’s Studies, praised the work done by Chief Guest Dr. Amit Malviya in Hindi at North Central Railway and said that Hindi is the language of communication and interaction. Discussions also focused on the role, possibilities, and challenges of Hindi in the era of digital technology, social media, artificial intelligence, and changing communication media. The symposium was moderated by Dr. Vijaya Singh, Assistant Professor of Linguistics, and the vote of thanks was given by Dr. Akhtar Alam, Assistant Professor of Mass Communication.
