Exciting matches in semi-finals of Late Khawaja Javed Akhtar Memorial Under-15 Football Tournament
Prayagraj: The semi-finals of the Late Khwaja Javed Akhtar Memorial Under-15 Football Tournament 2026, being held at the Symonds Sports Arena in Chaufatka, were full of excitement and competition. Following the two semi-final matches, YFA and Northern FA secured their places in the final.
The first semi-final featured a close contest between YFA and FUFC. Both teams played brilliantly, ending in a 1-1 draw. Harshit scored for YFA, while Ayan Ahmed scored for FUFC, making the match thrilling. After regulation time, the match went to a penalty shootout, which YFA won 4-3 to advance to the final.
In the second semifinal, Northern Football Academy played aggressively from the start and, with a superb performance, defeated Prayagraj United Football Academy 6-0 to advance to the final. For the winning team, Param and Ansh scored one goal each, while Smile and Raghbir scored two.
YFA and Northern FA will now face each other in the tournament’s title match. With both teams reaching the final, there is considerable excitement among the spectators about the title match. During the matches, former national player Prem Bhutani shook hands with the players of both teams and encouraged them. Senior footballer Mohan Lal Yadav also met with the players and boosted their morale.
This tournament is being organized by the Youngsters Club. A total of eight teams participated in the tournament. Sanjay Bhattacharya is the tournament secretary. To mark the final match, an exhibition match for players aged 40+ will be played tomorrow between GTA and Youngsters Football Club starting at 5 pm, with the final match starting at 4 pm.
