Prayagraj: The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, SIHAS, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences (SHUATS), Prayagraj, organized World Pharmacists Day 2026 under the theme “Empowering Pharmacists for a Healthier Future.” The programme was graced by Dr. (Ir.) Abhilasha J. Lal, First Lady of the University, Director, Campus Ministry and Director, HRMR, SHUATS, as the Chief Guest. She encouraged students to pursue pharmacy with professional knowledge, ethical values and a spirit of service. She emphasized the growing challenge of antimicrobial resistance and highlighted the importance of research and rational use of antimicrobials. She also inaugurated the Pharmacy Book authored by Dr. Vikas Kumar and Prof. (Dr.) Amita Verma during the ceremony.
Prof. (Dr.) Amita Verma, Head, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Associate Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, SHUATS, delivered the welcome address and administered the Pharmacist’s Oath to the students, emphasizing the professional responsibilities and ethical commitment associated with the pharmacy profession.
Prof. (Dr.) G. S. Shukla, Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences, SHUATS, motivated the students by emphasizing the importance of drug discovery, innovation, and patenting. Arvind Yadav, Drug Inspector, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, was the Keynote Speaker. He addressed the students on important aspects of pharmacy and drug regulation and shared insights relevant to their professional development.
Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Vikas Kumar, Organizing Secretary of the program, whose efforts contributed to the successful conduct of the programme with the coordination of Dr. Ankit Kumar Singh. A range of academic and co-curricular competitions were organized as part of the celebration, including an E-Poster Competition, Essay Writing Competition, Rangoli Competition, Skit Competition, and Pharmacy Quiz Competition. The programme concluded with the Valedictory Function and Prize Distribution to the Winners. The celebration highlighted the vital role of pharmacists in healthcare, their professional responsibilities, and their contribution to the evolving healthcare sector.
