Triveni Kala Utsav inaugurated with great fanfare with Ghoomar and Dhamaal dance performances

Prayagraj: The echo of Shiva Stuti, the sweetness of Haryanvi folk songs and the dance of Ghoomar-Dhamal… On Monday, the auditorium of the Cultural Centre was filled with the colours of Haryanvi folk culture. The occasion was the inauguration of the three-day Triveni Art Festival, organised under the joint aegis of the North Central Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Government of India and Haryana Art Council. The brilliant performances of the artists kept the audience captivated for a long time and the entire auditorium echoed with applause.

The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp jointly by the chief guest Rakesh Kumar Sengar, Secretary, Prof. Rajju Bhaiya Trust Sangh Province, Prayagraj, Mahesh Joshi, Vice President, Haryana Art Council, Haryana, Center Director Sudesh Sharma, Deputy Director Dr. Mukesh Upadhyay and Advisor Kalpana Sahay.

The program began with Puneet Ratha’s rendition of the Shiva hymn “Tu Raja Ki Rajdulaali, Main Sirf Langote Aala.” His performance filled the entire auditorium with Shiva’s presence. Prakash Malik and his fellow artists then gave a captivating performance of the Ghoomar dance to the folk song “Main Nayi Naveli Aayi, Phagun Mein Byaah Li.” The artists’ movements and Haryanvi folk colors enthralled the audience.

Following this, Praveen Sharma, Sandeep, Mohit, and Aryan performed a dhamal dance to the song “Chhora Main Haryana Ka.” Priyanka, Komal, Rambhateri, Neha, and Ritu received a standing ovation from the audience with their impressive group dance performance to Haryanvi folk songs.

The artists displayed the vibrant flavour of folk culture by presenting dances on folk songs like ‘Ke sapne ka zikar karoon, ek hoor leekad gayi jaad se’, ‘Mere pakshan-pakshan aavan ka bhala kaun sa matlab tera sai hai’ and ‘Balam mera banka chitta chhail’. The artists filled the audience with enthusiasm and patriotism by presenting Ragini folk songs filled with patriotism. The programme was conducted by Akash Agarwal.

As part of the Swachhta Pakhwada, a poster and slogan competition on the theme of cleanliness was held on Monday at the Mahatma Gandhi Art Gallery on the campus of the center as part of Special Campaign 6. Around 12 participants from schools and colleges enthusiastically took part in the competition.

“Draupadi Gatha” will be staged today: The play “Draupadi Gatha” will be staged on Tuesday, the second day of the Triveni Arts Festival. The play will present the story of Draupadi, a key figure in the Mahabharata, and various aspects of her life.
