Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to a husband who has been in jail for nearly two years in a dowry murder and POCSO case. The court stated that the trial court had directed for a speedy disposal of the case while rejecting bail, but the status report shows that this order was not followed. A prosecution witness is not appearing after testifying, despite a warrant. Consequently, the fundamental right to a speedy trial under Article 21 is being affected. Justice Krishna Pahal passed this order on Nishant Chaudhary’s petition. Senior Advocate Dayashankar Mishra, along with Chandrakesh Mishra and Vasundhara, argued on behalf of the petitioner. A case has been registered against the petitioner at Tanda Police Station, Rampur District. Three bail applications had been rejected in this case; this was his fourth. The court granted conditional bail.
