The Shri Shri North Central Railway Ramlila Committee staged the drama of Meghnad’s killing, Ravana’s killing, and the conquest of Lanka on Monday. Upon receiving news of Lakshman’s recovery from the Sanjivani herb, Ravana awakens his brother Kumbhakarna from his sleep and sends him to the battlefield. Kumbhakarna fights on his brother’s side, where a fierce battle ensues between him and Lord Shri Ram, ultimately resulting in Kumbhakarna’s death. This is followed by a battle between Ram, Lakshman, and Meghnad, in which Meghnad binds both of them in a serpent’s noose. The entire monkey army becomes alarmed, and Hanuman arrives with Garuda, who frees Ram and Lakshman from the serpent’s noose. Meghnad then goes to Nikumbhila to perform a yajna, but the monkey army arrives and destroys the yajna site. This leads to another fierce battle between Meghnad and Lakshman, in which Lakshman kills Meghnad. During the battle, Meghnad’s severed arm reaches Sulochana in Lanka, bringing her the news of her husband’s death. Sulochana then goes to Shri Ram’s court and asks for Meghnad’s head.
Upon receiving the news of the death of his son Meghnad, Ravana becomes distraught with grief and anger. During this time, he sees the vision of death in his dream. Mandodari also tries to convince him and advises him to avert the war by returning Mother Sita to Lord Shri Ram, but Ravana remains adamant on his stubbornness and sets out to fight Shri Ram. Ultimately, a fierce battle takes place between Lord Shri Ram and Ravana, in which Shri Ram kills Ravana and gives the message of victory of Dharma over Adharma and justice over injustice. With this the play concludes. The coronation of Shri Ram will be staged on Tuesday. Aditya Puri Goswami played Shri Ram, Ravi Yadav played Laxman, Alka played Sita, Arvind Pandey played Ravana, Raghavendra Singh played Sugreev, and Dnyaneshwar Srivastava played Hanuman. Present on the occasion were the committee’s acting president, Shivnaresh Yadav, general secretary Sant Kumar Verma, director Prabhakar Singh, and stage manager Mohammad Imtiaz Ansari, among others.
