​Prayagraj: On the occasion of ‘World Theatre Day’ this Friday, the Vinod Rastogi Smriti Sansthan organized a seminar titled “The Importance of Theatre in Education.” The program was presided over by the Sansthan’s President, Abhilash Narayan, while Secretary Ajay Mukherjee formally welcomed the dignitaries and presented the seminar’s outline.

​Key Highlights of the Seminar: ​Dr. Arun Srivastava (Lead Speaker): Emphasized that theatre’s significance transcends mere entertainment; it is the bedrock of holistic human development. He noted that an educated individual is the foundation of society, and integrating theatre into education ensures the right direction and guidance for future generations.

​Dr. Ashwini Kumar Singh: Reflecting on ancient dramatic traditions, he stated that a complete personality is forged only through the union of education and knowledge. He remarked, “In the current era, ‘Theatre Education’ is essential for children, as any skill development is incomplete without personality development.”

​Keynote Speaker – Dr. Mukesh Upadhyay: Clarified the subtle nuances between ‘Theatre in Education’ (TIE) and ‘Children’s Theatre.’ He stated, “Theatre in education is essentially the practical manifestation of ‘Learning by Doing.’ The integration of art into the curriculum under NEP 2020 is a revolutionary step.” He added that this would not only polish students’ creativity but also boost their confidence to face future challenges. He further advocated for basic theatre training for teachers to make complex subjects more engaging.

​Conclusion: ​The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by senior theatre artist and Bhartendu Natya Academy alumnus, Shiv Gupta. The seminar was attended by officials of the Vinod Rastogi Smriti Sansthan, local theatre enthusiasts, and students.
