‘Holi-Eid Milan’ to foster religious harmony, celebrating unity: Shekhar Bahuguna
Prayagraj. Sadbhavna Holi and Eid Milan ceremony was organized by the Congress Party on Sunday at Amar Memorial Public School located at Sahson intersection of the area. By participating in this program, distinguished citizens and workers of the area presented an example of social harmony. Senior Congress leader Shekhar Bahuguna was the chief guest of the function. He started the program by lighting the lamp. In his address, Bahuguna said that festivals like Holi and Eid are symbols of our composite culture. The Congress Party has always been in favor of taking all religions and classes together. Such events increase love and brotherhood in the society.
Speaking at the gathering, Shekhar Bahuguna highlighted the essence of India’s Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb—a symbol of the country’s composite culture where people from diverse religious backgrounds come together to celebrate each other’s festivals. “Brotherhood and harmony are the strengths of our society,” he said. “Today’s programme is a confluence of that harmony, unity, and brotherhood. The event underscored the importance of cultural integration and peaceful coexistence, reflecting the Grand Old Party’s broader message of inclusive development and communal unity in today’s diverse and dynamic social fabric,” he opined. Shekhar Bahuguna said that the real strength of India is its ‘Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb (culture)’. He appealed to the workers to take the message of love and brotherhood to every home in the society.
District President Ashfaq Ahmed, who was presiding over the program, said that the Congress Party has always been in favor of equality of all religions. He said that the objective of the Sadbhavana Milan ceremony is to unite every section of the society. Holi, the festival of colours, and Eid, the festival of happiness, further strengthens our mutual relationships. In the function, the workers applied Abir-Gulal to each other and hugged each other and congratulated them on Eid and Holi.
District Vice President Nisha Singh, organizer of the program, said that the colors of Holi and sweetness of Eid work to unite the society. The program was conducted by District General Secretary Sunil Pandey.
