Prayagraj: Under the joint aegis of Mahasagar Shiksha Samiti and Uttar Pradesh Sanskrit Sansthan, Lucknow, Sanskrit experts gave a detailed lecture on the contribution of Sanskrit to the Indian language, its antiquity and scientificity, at the Hindustani Academy in Prayagraj. Under the chief hospitality of Dr. Kamaljeet Singh, under the direction of Acharya Pandit Shivendra Saraswat (Shibu)ji, Professor Usha Mishra, Professor Bhagwati Pandey, Ajay Pandey, Mrs. Anulata Upadhyay, Priyavat Tripathi, Surendra Pandey addressed the seminar on the contribution, antiquity and scientificity of Sanskrit to the Indian language. Pandit Shivendra Saraswat said, Udhamen hi sidhyanati karyani na manorathenaan hi suptasya simhasya pravishanti mukhe mrigan i.e., one’s tasks are not accomplished just by desiring, but by working hard, one’s tasks are accomplished.
Other Sanskrit scholars also expressed their views. Special guest Usha Mishra, while explaining the number of vowels in Sanskrit, said that although there are ten vowels in Sanskrit, five are used the most. Of these, lat, lit, lut, lt, lot are used the most. She said that the first vowel of these vowels is ‘l’, hence it is called ‘lakar’. Professor Bhagwati Pandey asked, “What are the fourteen Shiva Sutras?” What are the Maheshwar Sutras? What are the Maheshwar Sutras? How many Maheshwar Sutras are there in Sanskrit?” Prizes were awarded by the Ocean Education Committee and the Uttar Pradesh Sanskrit Institute for correct answers. The program began with Shiva Vandana and the lighting of lamps. Dr. Pranav Saluja, Dr. Vakil Ahmed, Dr. Mazhar Abbas, S.S. Abbas, and Meesam Abbas also addressed the program as special guests. Iftekhar Alam Khan and S.A. Khan welcomed the guests. A large number of people attended the program.
