6 booked including hospital operator, threat on demanding money

Prayagraj: A case of fraud involving approximately Rs. 67.85 lakh has come to light in the Kareli police station area, involving the sale of a house, partnership in a hospital, and development work. It is alleged that six accused, including Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Aamir, Dr. Aarif Qadri, and Syed Nabeel Qadri, took lakhs of rupees under the guise of trust, but neither fulfilled their promises nor returned the money. They are being threatened when asked for the money. Kareli police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

Shahganj resident Atir Sarfaraz stated in a police complaint that his wife, Shifa Khan, had purchased a house in the Kareli area for Rs. 3.5 million. It is alleged that despite paying a total of Rs. 22.25 million through various means, including advances and installments, the sale deed was not executed. He also alleges threats and abuse when asked for the money. Sources indicate that Aarif Qadri is close to the cousin of mafia leader Atiq Ahmed. Aarif Qadri also owns a hospital in Prayagraj, which is currently operational. Meanwhile, businessman Imran Ahmed alleged that approximately Rs. 1.1 million was taken from him and his wife in the name of hospital development, machinery purchases, and aluminum work. He alleged that he was threatened with death when he demanded the money back. Aarif Hussain alleged that approximately Rs. 1.3 million was taken from him under the pretext of making him a partner in the hospital and promising a share in the profits. He further alleged that he was threatened when he asked for the money. Hashir Sarfaraz has alleged that around four lakh rupees and Tayal Sarfaraz has alleged that around 17.60 lakh rupees were taken from them in the name of investment in the hospital and purchase of machinery. The victims allege that after demanding the money, the concerned people switched off their mobile phones and stopped contacting them. They are also being threatened if they ask for the money. It is worth noting that an FIR was also registered against six people including Asif, Aamir, Nabeel, Laraib, under various sections including fraud, in Kareli police station on November 11, 25. Kareli police had already arrested Mohammad Asif in this case a few days ago. There are allegations of extorting lakhs of rupees in the name of development of the hospital and purchase of equipment. Kareli police say that a case has been registered and investigation is going on.
