Prayagraj: The enthusiasm of children and youth is consistently evident in the 30-day summer children’s workshop organized by the North Central Zone Cultural Center, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The children and youth selected for the workshop are learning the nuances of Gujarat’s famous folk dances, Dandiya and Garba, under the guidance of instructor Sonali Chakraborty.
In a training session held on Monday, participants practiced traditional Garba and Dandiya steps. The instructor explained that she taught the children the technique of dancing in coordination with dandiya sticks. Special training was also provided on how to perform Garba in groups of three and six, foot steps, body movements, and balance of rhythm and beat. During the training, the children learned various dance forms with great enthusiasm and zeal. The atmosphere of the workshop was filled with color, music and energy. The participants not only understood the technical nuances of folk dance but also got acquainted with the cultural traditions and folk life of Gujarat. Centre Director Sudesh Sharma said that with the aim of taking the diversity of Indian culture and the rich tradition of folk arts to the new generation, children and youth are learning the art from the masters of art with great enthusiasm in the 30-day presentational summer workshop organized by the North Central Zone Cultural Center, Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
