Prayagraj: On the 3rd of the month of Muharram in Prayagraj, under the patronage of Ghulam-e-Hussain Muharram Committee Azim Pehalwan, the mehndi of Salim Pehalwan was performed. The mehndi was performed late at night. This is the first mehndi of the month of Muharram. The size of this mehndi is much bigger than all other mehndi. The mehndi was decorated in a very wonderful manner; meenakari was done with red and white flowers. The beauty of the mehndi was worth seeing.

With the loud slogans of Ya Ali Ya Hussain, the devotees of Hussain set out on patrol with Mehndi on their shoulders. They patrolled Gadhi Sarai Latif Market Sabji Mandi. Women and children were seen restless for the pilgrimage. They had already made their places. Langar was being organised everywhere. Laddu Bhai of Barkat Hotel organised a langar of sheermal. The crowd was huge, heads were visible everywhere, it seemed as if dark clouds from the sky were descending on the ground and touching the shoulders of the Mehndi.

The martyrdom of Hazrat Hussain, the leader of the Imams and the martyrs, was being remembered where Imam Hussain and his companions sacrificed their lives for the protection of Islam and did not bow their heads in front of oppression and falsehood. The Mehndi now slowly reaches Nakhas Kohna. The crowd of people giving shoulder and visiting the shrine was very large. The committee was having difficulty controlling the crowd. The slogan of Labbaik Ya Hussain Ya Ali Ya Hussain kept echoing the whole night. Late at night the Mehndi was placed in front of Latif Market.

Hundreds of people attended the mehndi ceremony, including the legendary wrestler Manha Khan, Inam Ullah, Mohammad Umar, Rizwan, Lalu Bhai, Shamim, Ghulam Nabi, Ghulam Mohammad, Mohammad Akram, Mohammad Aamir, Mehboob Dabur, former councilor Zafar Khan, Fayyaz, Afroz, etc. Civil Defense members Mohammad Aslam, Mohammad Tahir, Mohammad Mazhar, and Shoaib Alam, along with their entire team, controlled the crowd and served the people. Kotwali Police and Shahganj Police were fully alert and completed the Mehndi safely.
