Prayagraj: Maharishi Patanjali Vidya Mandir celebrated the auspicious festival of Janmashtami with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour. The celebration beautifully brought alive the divine persona, teachings and timeless values of Lord Krishna through a vibrant stage presentation and a series of creative and intellectual activities. The celebration was graced by the Secretary of the Patanjali Group of School, Dr. Krishna Gupta, Treasurer, Shri Ravindra Gupta and the managing heads Smt. Rekha Baid and Shri Yashovardhan.
Prof. Girendra Singh Tomar, a renowned Ayurveda scholar and academician, President of Vishwa Ayurveda Mission, and a distinguished expert with over four decades of experience in the field of Ayurveda was invited as the special guest, several other dignitaries, members of Rotary club and parents graced the occasion.
Mrs. Alpona Dey, Principal, warmly welcomed the Chief Guest, esteemed dignitaries, parents, teachers and students to the Janmashtami celebration. She extended her heartfelt greetings to everyone and expressed her pleasure in bringing the school community together to celebrate the auspicious occasion with devotion, joy and enthusiasm.
The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. This was followed by a graceful Bhav Nritya, which beautifully expressed devotion and the divine emotions associated with Lord Krishna. The soulful Bhajan Presentation created an atmosphere of spirituality and devotion, while the enchanting Raas Leela captivated the audience with its depiction of Krishna’s divine play through music and dance. The cultural programme continued with a lively Nritya Natika, presenting an engaging act based on the life and values of Lord Krishna. There was an impressive Instrumental Presentation, adding a melodious dimension to the celebration and showcasing the musical talent of the students.
The Chief Guest expressed his happiness and appreciation for the wonderful programme and warmly praised the students for their enthusiastic participation. He remarked that MPVM not only imparts education but also focuses on the overall development of its students. He highlighted the school’s role in inculcating strong values and spiritual learning, while also encouraging children to adopt healthy eating habits and a disciplined lifestyle.
The celebration concluded on a gracious note with words of wisdom and encouragement from Dr. Krishna Gupta, who appreciated and encouraged the students. Drawing an inspiring parallel to Lord Krishna’s flute, she reminded everyone that just as the flute is hollow for the divine music to flow through it, we too must empty ourselves of anger, jealousy, hatred and negativity. She urged everyone to awaken the Krishna within by keeping their hearts pure, receptive and filled with positivity.
Alongside the stage presentation, the school conducted various class-wise activities to engage students creatively with the life and teachings of Lord Krishna. Class 1 participated in Krishna Mukut Making, creating colourful crowns, while Class 2 presented a lively stage enactment, on the festive spirit of Janmashtami. Class 3 decorated flutes, Class 4 took part in Matki Decoration and Class 5 created Krishna Masks, featuring his iconic crown, peacock feather and flute. Class 6 explored Anecdotes of Young Krishna, Class 7 created beautiful Radha-Krishna Silhouettes, Class 8 reflected on Quotes of Shri Krishna and Class 9 students gave speeches on Krishna’s life lessons and leadership. Class 10 engaged in Poster Making on Dharma vs Adharma, Class 11 participated in Calligraphy, and Class 12 had a Panel Discussion on “Krishna in Today’s World.”
