Prayagraj: Amidst nationwide protests over alleged vote-stealing revelations and the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Review (SIR) process, a protest march was organized from the Soraon Block to the Soraon Tehsil under the leadership of Congress Gangapar District President Ashfaq Ahmed. The protesters burned an effigy of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and demanded his arrest. They also launched a scathing attack on the BJP government. According to local Congress workers, a group of workers led by Ashfaq Ahmed reached the Soraon Tehsil premises and burned an effigy of Gyanesh Kumar, raising slogans like, “Vote thief Gyanesh Kumar, resign,” “Arrest Gyanesh Kumar,” and “Down with the BJP government.” They accused the Election Commission of colluding with the BJP to manipulate voter lists and steal votes. Addressing the protest, Ashfaq Ahmed said that recent revelations have made it clear that the election process is being questioned. They accused Gyanesh Kumar of arbitrariness in the commission’s decisions and ignoring objections from other commissioners. They demanded that Gyanesh Kumar be immediately removed from his post, legal action be taken against him, and an impartial investigation be conducted into the entire process. Accusing the BJP government of weakening democracy, he said that the public has come to know about the conspiracies of the BJP government and will not remain silent now.
