Prayagraj: A One-Day Educational Visit and Project Demonstration was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Allahabad (MNNIT Allahabad), Prayagraj, for students and faculty members of the Institute of Engineering and Rural Technology (IERT), Prayagraj.

The educational visit was organized around the Scientific Social Responsibility activity of the ANRF/SERB-funded research project, titled “Prototype Design and Performance Analysis of an Energy Efficient Domestic Biogas Cook-Stove Burner”. The programme was aimed at providing students with practical exposure to ongoing research and experimental activities related to biogas production, utilization, combustion, emission measurement and energy-efficient cook-stove technology. The programme schedule was held at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, MNNIT Allahabad.

The programme commenced with the arrival and registration of the visiting students and faculty members, followed by a welcome note by Prof. Rajeev Srivastava, Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, MNNIT Allahabad. He set the tone for the visit by inspiring students to explore the connection between the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) and sustainable energy technologies. He highlighted the traditional significance of cows and cow dung in Indian society and explained how these resources can be effectively utilized for biogas production. He further motivated the students to envision a smart village ecosystem through the integration of biogas technology, waste management, renewable energy, and sustainable rural development. His address encouraged students to appreciate the relevance of traditional knowledge in addressing contemporary energy and environmental challenges.An expert talk on “Importance of Biogas and CBG Technology” was delivered by Prof. Akshoy Ranjan Paul, Professor and Co-PI, MNNIT Allahabad, highlighting the relevance of biogas and compressed biogas technologies in the transition towards sustainable and cleaner energy systems. The participants were subsequently introduced to the research project and its technical aspects by Dr. Bireswar Paul, Associate Professor and Principal Investigator (PI). The session focused on biogas production and its utilization, providing students with an overview of the research objectives and technological aspects of the project.
