Prayagraj: Congress National Secretary and Prayag Zone In-charge Varun Chaudhary accused the Modi-led central government of taking away the people’s right to vote. He stated that this was the reason why the BJP governments at the Centre and in various states had become completely authoritarian.
Addressing an interactive meeting with the City Congress Committee and various frontal organisations, Chaudhary said that the government was taking away the freedom that Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad had fought to secure for the nation.
He further stated that the INDIA alliance’s movement, under the leadership of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, against alleged vote theft and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, would continue until justice was achieved.
He also interacted with more than 100 Congress workers from Prayagraj during the meeting.

Those present included Vijay Mishra, Ashfaq Ahmed, Sudhakar Tiwari, Kishore Varshney, Harikesh Tripathi, Parvez Ansari, Sanjay Tiwari, Zia Ubaid, Manju Sant, Manoj Pasi, Arshad Ali, Brijendra Mishra, Rajeshwari Patel, Ishtiyaq Ahmed, Manju Maurya, Anjum Naaz, Anoop Tripathi, Rakesh Patel, Pratima Tripathi, Dr. Premchand Yadav, Ahmadullah, Dr. Anil Gaur, Tabrez Ahmed, Vinay Dubey, Nafees Qureshi, Rakesh Srivastava, Anshuman Patel, Sartaz Mohammad, Narayan Singh Chandel, Kamu Sonkar, Ayush Mishra, Tribhuvan Sonkar, and several other Congress workers.
