Following the slaying of Khar-Dushana, the events of Sita’s abduction and Jatayu’s death were emotionally staged in the Ramlila at the Shri Shri Bal Ramlila Committee, Civil Lines, Prayagraj. The actors’ lively performances mesmerized the audience. The play depicts Shurpanakha arriving in Lanka with news of Khara and Dushan’s death. Upon hearing this, Ravana begins to realize that Shri Ram is no ordinary human being, but an incarnation of Lord Narayana. Despite this, Ravana, consumed by arrogance, plots to abduct Sita and enlists the help of Maricha.
Maricha takes the form of a golden deer and reaches Panchavati. Seeing the deer, Mother Sita requests Shri Ram to bring it. When Shri Ram follows him and Lakshman comes out of the hut, Ravana disguises himself as a sage and abducts Mother Sita. During the abduction of Sita, the bird king Jatayu fights with Ravana to stop him. Despite being old, Jatayu fights bravely, but Ravana cuts off his wings. The touching scene of Jatayu’s sacrifice moved the audience. Before the start of Ramlila, aarti of Lord Ram, Lakshman and Mother Sita was performed. 17 October Lanka Dahan Angad Ravana Dialogue
