Prayagraj: The three-day inter-school cultural festival, ALFRESCO, an annual event organised by the Boys’ High School (BHS) and College to facilitate personality development, confidence-building, discipline and interpersonal relationship among the student community, began with a bang on Tuesday. Member of Parliament, Praveen Patel was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof. Yogeshwar Tiwari, University of Allahabad and Prof (Dr.) Arif A. Broadway, Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture, Technology and Sciences were the Guests of Honour.
The second day for ‘Alfresco 2024’ started with students locking horns for ‘Vocabquest’, a competition exploring the literary word. Earlier, the Principal D. A. Luke welcomed back the students from various schools. Samarth Khare along with other captains led their schools in the draw of lots. The second event ‘Sur Sangram’ witnessed some riveting performance by various schools. The audience also participated with zeal and vigour. This was followed by ‘Sing Along’, a group song competition. A total of seven teams participated and their immaculate renditions left everyone spell bound.
The last on stage event was ‘Happy Feet’ and the five participating teams gave a scintillating performance with near perfect synchrony and co-ordination. The off stage events were Splash, Expressionism, Caption Me, Pratibimb and Roll the Reels.
Addressing the student’s Academic Supervisor, CB Luke said, “Winning or losing does not matter, what matters is participation with a good spirit of friendly competition.” Later speaking to reporters on sideline of the event, she opined, “A genius lights his own fire. But a true leader lights the fire among others. So, it is, indeed, commendable that BHS has been organising a prestigious inter-school event, ALFRESCO, every year to promote ‘positive leadership’ traits, creativity, personality development and a spirit of camaraderie in the young generation. This has been one among various other commendable roles which BHS has been playing to fulfil its social obligations under the inspiring guidance of its Principal, DA Luke.”
The results of the ON STAGE events are as follows: Vocabquest: 1st – BHS, 2nd– Bishop’s Co-ed; Sur Sangram: 1st – BHS, 2nd– Bishop’s Co-ed; Sing Along: 1st – BHS&Bishop’s Co-ed (joint winner); OFF-STAGE Events: Creative Muse: 1st– BHS, 2nd– Khelgaon&Bishop’s Co-ed (joint winner);Expressionism: 1st – BHS, 2nd– St. John’s Co-ed & Srinivasan Ramanujan (joint winner); Splash: 1st – Bishop’s Co-ed, 2nd– St. John’s Co-ed; Roll the Reels: 1st – BHS, 2nd– Bishop’s Co-ed.
The closing ceremony and prize distribution of Alfresco 2024 will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 6:00 pm. Sidharth Nath Singh, Member of Legislative Assembly, Uttar Pradesh has consented to be the chief guest. The participating educational institutions were The Bishop’s Co-Ed School (Bishop’s), Pune, St. John’s Co-Ed School, D. P. Public School (DPPS), Khelgaon Public School (KPS), Tagore Public School (TPS), Srinivasa Ramanujan Public School, Bal Bharti School, Erny Memorial Senior Secondary School, Bishop Johnson School and College and the host, Boys’ High School (BHS) and College. In all, more than 500 enthusiastic boys and girls from the educational institutions participated in the mega fest.
