Green team winning championship, Red team coming in second place
Prayagraj: The Electronic Media Club Prayagraj hosted the Media Cup 2025, with the Green team winning the championship and the Red team coming in second place. The event was launched by Divisional Commissioner and was well-attended at DSA Ground. This one-day cricket event saw four teams compete: Electronic Media Green, Red, Blue, and Photo Journalist Yellow.
Divisional Commissioner Soumya Agrawal kicked off the competition by playing the first stroke. To motivate media, District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma walked onto the ground and smacked the boundary. Dr. Ajay Pal Sharma, the Additional Police Commissioner, showed off his batting talents. Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Kaushalya Nand Giri ‘Tina Maa’ of Sanatani Kinnar Akhara, NCR CPRO Shashikant Tiwari, Mayor Ganesh Chandra Keservani, Information Officer Indramani Pandey, Senior PRO North Central Railway Amit Malviya, and PRO Amit Singh were among the distinguished visitors who attended.
The final was contested by the Green and Red teams, each with six overs. Batting first, the Green Team scored 62 runs. In chasing the aim, the Red Team only achieved 40 runs. As a result, the Green Team won the championship, with the Red Team finishing second. In the first match, the Red Team defeated the Blue Team by ten wickets while chasing 68 runs in seven overs. In the second match, the Green Team defeated the Yellow Team (Photo Journalists) by pursuing 58 runs in seven overs. Shakti Singh scored a scorching 60 runs and grabbed two wickets in this match. He was named Man of the Match and then Man of the Series. Arav Bhardwaj, captain of the Green Team, got the Best Fielding Award.
The competition attracted a great number of residents, sports fans, government figures, and social workers. Notable attendees included R.S. Patel (National President, Janhit Sankalp Party), Dr. Namrata Jaiswal (Founder, Maruti Dental Care for Life), Akbar Khan, Ratan Agrawal, Shivshankar Singh, Zahida Begum (Founder, Khanam Art Gallery), Babban Dubey, Sachin Mishra, Ajay Tatoo (BJP Leader), and Gopi Jewelers Proprietor, among others. Virendra Pathak, the club’s founder and convener, greeted all attendees graciously with garlands. Founder Virendra Pathak remarked that the Media Cup is held every year to give a break from the demanding and busy routine of journalism. He underlined that journalists from the city’s electronic and other media organizations took an active role in this athletic event.
