Prayagraj: A Dalit student from Mahoba was abducted and kept hostage for 16 days. During this period, she was not only subjected to rape but also faced inhuman and barbaric treatment. No representative of the government visited the victim’s family to share their grief. However, when the President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr. Ajay Rai, was on his way to meet the victim’s family and express solidarity, every possible attempt was made to stop him, yet he ultimately reached the victim’s home.
This insensitive government, which itself lacks the compassion to stand with the victim’s family, became so disturbed by Mr. Ajay Rai’s visit that BJP workers, allegedly with the support of the government, started protests and demonstrations against him across the state for performing this humane and emotional act. Not only party workers, but even ministers and MLAs of the government came forward to oppose the State Congress President. Representatives of the rattled government have now demanded an investigation into the assets of Mr. Ajay Rai.
It is extremely ironic that this government, drowned neck-deep in corruption, along with its ministers and MLAs, is demanding an inquiry into the assets of Congress State President Mr. Ajay Rai, whose entire public life is like an open book. Just two days ago, the Agra Municipal Corporation waived off ₹430 crore owed by the private electricity company Torrent. Earlier too, thousands of crores were waived off for capitalists, from whom BJP allegedly collected political benefits in return. BJP has established a “work and pay donation” policy and has also institutionalized extortion through ED and Income Tax raids. What bigger example of corruption can there be than this?
If the government genuinely wants to expose corruption and has the courage to do so, then it should investigate the assets of its own ministers and MLAs. It will become clear how much loot has taken place in the last nine years. From mid-day meals to roads, from hospital medicines to MGNREGA, corruption is rampant everywhere. These people have not even spared Lord Ram’s city Ayodhya. Not only has there been corruption related to the temple bells, but the extent of profiteering in the name of Ayodhya’s development is visible to everyone.
We are soldiers of Rahul Gandhi Ji. We maintain complete integrity in public life. Any agency may investigate us, but the condition is that the ministers and MLAs of the BJP government should also be investigated by the same agencies. The press conference was addressed by City Congress President Fuzail Hashmi, District Yamuna Par President Ashok Patel, Ganga Par President Ashfaq Ahmad, Coordinator Harikesh Tripathi, Farhan Ahmad, and several others.
